Mail order: Our mail order department is busy picking and packing your orders. Please note we only despatch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Please note: We are a proper nursery and care for our plants; we constantly go through all our stock and repot so they remain healthy for the whole season, some of our stock has been grown in the ground and potted so there will be things that haven’t fully grown into their pots. Many of our plants will have been pruned back to send out, especially perennials- this is normal. If you do not wish to receive these please ask before ordering.

Trees have become increasingly difficult and expensive to send out, and often do incur surcharges. Each order is dealt with on an individual basis so you maybe contacted if there are extra costs. It is often more economical to send out on a pallet, especially if there are 2 or more trees- but we will notify you if this is the case.

Our restaurant is extremely popular throughout the year, so please book in advance to avoid any disappointment.   

Although we have all the plants listed on our website they are not all on display at any one time. If you are looking for a specific plant please email plants@larchcottage.co.uk in advance to make sure they are in the nursery.

We are delighted to announce that we are the Regional Winner of the RHS Partner Garden of the Year 2025.

Once again Larch Cottage has been voted as the regional winner for the North in the RHS Partner Garden of the Year 2025 competition, following a nationwide public vote organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

We can’t think of any better way to round off our 40th year and are truly honoured to receive this award once more. Beauty beyond the North

Larch cottage nurseries has to be one of the most romantic and beautiful gardens in England, not just the North. It’s a heady mix of plants for sale and mature permanent planting and don’t even get me going about the sculpture. What finer place to sit and enjoy lunch than on the balcony of La Casa Verde looking out across such beauty. – Mike

Hello,

Just wanted to say how delighted my dad is with the Yellow Bird magnolia it was such a joy to see a beautiful yellow flower in full bloom at the top of the plant and a bud still to open!

It is the perfect 87th birthday present for our lovely nature loving dad.

He was also delighted with the message and the five chicks you drew made it extra joyful.

"This place is a total vibe, especially the Italian inspired restaurant La Casa Verde, where I tried a divine broccoli and Gruyere soup with sourdough. The garlic mushrooms with goats cheese on sourdough was also incredible. I only tried one mushroom as it was not from my plate but it was the best thing I have ever put it in my mouth!"

I just wanted to say a big thank you for my lovely alpine plants and Hamamelis, which arrived safely yesterday.
They were packed beautifully and very securely, as always.  I am really grateful for the quality of my plants and quick delivery.

This plant is growing well now and really healthy. I should have had more faith! Quite an amazing place, really!

We knew it would be enjoyable to visit on a lovely sunny day, on our way home from a short break in the Lakes/Dales, but weren't prepared for just how nice it would be - or how extensive. A great place for the hard-core gardener or someone who wants some extra statuary for their grounds, but for us with our little back yard it was just fun to walk around - and we did get a couple of plants and some trailing lobelia. Luckily we'd had the foresight to book a table in the restaurant in advance. We hadn't realised that the extra part of the garden with ticketed entry is only open Wednesday & Sunday afternoons (we went on a Friday) - hence the confused look when we tried to pay to get in! - but there's more than enough to spend a good amount of time enjoying anyway.

Great place for browsing outdoor statues & a variety of plants/shrubs & trees. Lunch on the balcony was delicious & service good too. The gift shop next door is a bonus.

Probably my favourite garden centre.

It’s an amazing garden, which feels like a fairy tale to walk through. As you turn right at the end of the path you see a wonderfully peaceful cafe. Up the stairs you find a shaded area from which you oversee the luscious gardens over a pond lively with little fish. I recommend this place not just as a garden centre but as a beautiful botanical garden worthy of a visit to feel as if you enter an enchanted forest.

One of the best nurseries I've ever been too.

We've been coming here for over 17 years and it is still one of my favourite places to visit when we are in the area! Brilliant variety of high quality products, plants, shrubs and trees!

"Lots of choices from a large selection of quality plants. If you love gardening it's worth a visit as they have many plants you won't find in your normal garden center. Also lots of planted areas so you can see the plants growing in situation which is helpful for seeing how they would look out of their pots!
